Word has never used Apple's text replacement. You need to set it separately in Word > Tools > Autocorrect

Microsoft Word? Microsoft products tend to override macOS's settings in favor of their own method. There is probably a way to alter that behaviour, but Apple Support Communities isn't the best place to find support for Microsoft products. Contact Microsoft or consult its help pages.
