Lost All my Numbers files after Sequoia 15.3.1 OS update

I was prompted to update my OS to Sequoia 15.3.1 today on my MacBook Air. So I did so. All **** ensued. Among other things (like the desktop showing hundreds of random files previously stored in folders), I lost all my Google Chrome saved bookmarks and active tabs. Have managed to start resurrecting that, tab by tab. But also lost all my Numbers spreadsheets, including a stock dividends tracking spreadsheet that I use daily and have saved daily for almost 10 years. I've tried finding that file on the desktop and in iCloud, etc. etc. but no luck. There must be bad code in that update. It will take me days to reconstruct that spreadsheet. Help!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 15.3

I am so distrustful of cloud-based storage that automatically syncs with my devices. You never know when something might screw up, like it thinks you deleted all the files from your computer so it automatically syncs that change to the cloud. Not saying this is what happened here but it is always a concern of mine.

I obviously do not use iCloud for document storage but there have been posts in the past about missing files and sometimes the solution has been to log out of iCloud on your computer then log back in.

Did you say you logged directly into icloud.com on the web (using Safari or Chrome or whatever) and all your files were gone? Or just the Numbers files are gone?

I can't say anything about your Chrome bookmarks, I don't know where it stores its stuff.
