Visa card getting declined or failed

I literally put a new card and I spent over 30 dollars on it and when I try to buy something it says that it’s been “declined” or “failed” I’m actually mad right now because this is my first time actually buying a Visa card and now it’s getting declined!

When adding a card to your Wallet, it is the bank of the issuing card that approves or denies it. If the bank approves it, they will send a unique token to your device to be used for Apple Pay purchases. Call the bank of the issuing card, the number is probably on the back.

Here is the list of the banks that support Apple Pay, so you can use that to confirm the bank is on the list.

  • Were you able to confirm that the bank listed on the card is one that supports Apple Pay?

  • Did you find the number to the bank on the back of the card and contact them?
  • The Support Article for typical problems is available here, but in most cases it leads back to contacting the bank found on the card. They add the token on your device to use for the Apple Pay purchases when the card is added.
