So, your Apple Cash account is locked and you have no access to the funds. If the bank’s investigation is completed and still locked (opposed to restricted) the funds will be handled in accordance with your listed state of residence unclaimed funds laws.
Most states consider funds unclaimed after 6 to 24 months. The time is determined by the laws of your state of residence. Once funds are ruled unclaimed, your bank escheats them or in layman’s terms surrenders them to the state.
The State places escheated funds into an unclaimed funds account. The owner or heir of the owner can file a claim with the state. If the claim is approved, the state transfers ownership to the claimant.
There are potential downsides to claiming ownership. You’d better know the complete history of the funds. If someone sends you funds from illegal enterprises, the funds are not legally the recipients. That would be money laundering and it’s illegal.
Prepaid debit cards from Cash App, Venmo, Google Cash, PayPal and Apple Cash are under just as much scrutiny as traditional bank accounts and probably more because of past abuses. Banks are closing following the law and choosing not to do business with individuals engaged in activities easily confused with money laundering and other illegal activities.
I wish you the best.
