Monzo and Apple Pay

Just a quick message to let everyone know , we have been subject to 5 unauthorised transactions on our joint account allegedly by Apple Pay .. money was taken and transferred to 5 accounts in Revolut bank , Monzo are refusing to refund as saying we have made the transactions , yet we do not have any transaction history on our wallet …. Somehow they are disguising the payments to look like Apple Pay … this now has gone to the financial ombudsman to fight our case … if you have an account with MONZO be warned they will just shut the door in your face ! Get you money out of MONZO !!!!

Thanks for the update and I wish you the best in your dispute with Monzo.

The most likely scenario is the card’s details were skimmed from an ATM ortransaction terminal. The scammers then used the information to add the card to their devices and proceeded to access your account(s).

The bank knows you didn’t do it. They authorized the card being added. Your iPhone has 3 separate unique identifiers. The DPAN (Device Primary Account Number), device serial number (supplied by iPhone during adding card to Wallet app) and SEID (Secure Element ID) where the bank stores card information on the iPhone. The bank knows it wasn’t your iPhone.

Hi Jeff

thanks for that I will use this information as part of our ombudsman claim against them we can’t believe it , Apple support confirmed NO transactions on the account and also they DO not allow this sort of payment method to Revolut .. it’s just so annoying that you think you are protected and then this happens and the so called bank let you down … I just hope that anyone who reads this has second thoughts about staying with MONZO

we lost £650 in 13min and if we had not been alerted by out Apple Watches and I had not cleared all funds out of the account as quick as I did it could have been £3,000
