How to save Notes to ipad mini 6 - not icloud.

Please can someone explain how to set up a folder in Notes that is saved to my ipad mini 6, and not on the icloud? There are frequent situations where I have no Internet access & it's essential that I can access certain notes offline. This should be simple - my Macbook has a separate folder called 'My Macbook' so I know that these can be accessed anywhere.

Typically, there is nothing like this on my ipad. I tried searching for solutions & found this:

Set up an On My iPad account

Notes in this account appear only on your iPad, and they’re included in your iPad backups to iCloud.

Go to Settings > Apps > Notes.
Turn on “On My iPad” Account.

Unfortunately there is NO "on my ipad" option in settings. This is all I see if I try to set up a new account. I'd be really grateful for some advice!

Hello AliWonder,

The setting is not in Settings > Apps > Notes > Notes Accounts but directly in Settings > Apps > Notes. Swipe down to see it (mine is turned off):

This is simply your preference for where you want your data saved, be it:

icloud
your device
google drive
etc. etc.

its all in the save area found in your “files” app

ehich should be accessible through the settings and search tab(s).

Thanks both, but I was actually in Settings>Apps>Notes - & there is no "on my ipad" option. My original post seems to be cut off & doesn't show the screenshot I posted.

The only options I get are icloud or Outlook - there's no mention of "on my ipad". Yet again I tried to post a screenshot of what I'm seeing but it doesn't seem to be visible after I hit 'post'. This is really frustrating! I also don't understand why I would have to choose one 'default' location for every single note? Why can't I choose to file certain things on my ipad & others on icloud? 🤷🏻‍♀️ This is how most people work; is Apple unable to understand this? 🤔
