Why can't I open links in Messages app on my MacBook Air?

I can no longer open links sent through messages on my laptop. I have checked the messages settings, laptop settings, even browser settings and all seems to be as it should be. I have also quit the application and opened back up, no change. I am able to open the same links on messages on my iPhone. Any clues out there?

Messages On Mac, ability to send "#images" (GIF's) disappeared after MacOS Ventura 13.5.2 update. After running the update to MacOS Ventura 13.5.2 update on my MacBook Pro the ability to send #images (GIF's) disappeared from Messages... the only options I now have to send in addition to text (see screen shot) are "Photos", "Memoji Stickers", and "Message Effects"... in fact, now that I look at it all other options are missing too like sending music links or "Stickers"... all the things that were there before. Is there something that I'm missing? It was there yesterday...
