Hey everyone,
since the last update, I do not receive notifications for new emails. I see the badge (number) increasing. But there is no badge in the top right corner nor any sound. This changed since the update.
I talke to Apple Support, they just made the recommendation to reinstall macOS. But I believe it's a general software bug.

I had the exact same problem that started at about the same time as the OP. I followed your suggestion and it fixed it for me, too. My "New message notifications" used to be set to "Primary Inbox" - I changed to to "All Mailboxes" and now I get the sound notification as well as the banner. Before, I didn't get either.

1 - System Setting >> Notifications >> Mail - ON
2 - Mail >> Settings >> General >> Play sounds for other mail actions and New Message Sound
No issue here on 1 M4, 1 M3 and 1 M2 machines all with Sequoia 15.4
How many times has the computer been Re- Started since the application of the upGrade to 15.4 ?
Restart in Safe Mode.
Sometimes a Safe Boot followed by a Normal Boot will just put things right. 🤞
Do you have the mail icon in your dock and that should show when new mail arrives. Be sure mail is checked off in the notification menu to see that noted in top right corner of screen.
Of course, checked all of that. Doesn’t solve the problem unfortunately but thank you :)
I have the same issue. latest macOS. m1 MacBook Air. notifications are hit and miss from mail.
I have the same issue and what's worse is that it's the same on my iPhone since I upgraded to iOS 18.4

Same here!! I can not see my notification badges any more after the latest Mac OS update in 15.4.1 (24E263). Even with the option enabled on the settings
