I have my friends old iPhone that he just found the information for but when going to sign in its locked to owner. I tried to go to iforgot.apple.com but it keeps sending a verification code to his old number that he doesn't have anymore and it's not giving any other options. What should I do?

And then perform the transfer:

Otherwise, the iPhone will be less than useful. Give it back to your friend, or recycle it.
