Missing frames in videos recorded with iPhone Nearly all the video footage that I've recorded with my iPhone 14 Pro (using the native Camera app) contains one or two missing frames. This leads to short stutters during video playback. Typically there is at least one frame drop in a minute of video. I always shoot at 24 frames per second (mostly in cinematic mode), so one frame equals 1/24 second. In the moment of the frame drop, the previous frame is simply displayed twice and the actual correct frame is omitted leading to a short stutter. It's subtle and I suspect many people wouldn't even notice, but it's a showstopper for professional video. I have already gone through all levels of Apple support and the last recommendation was to report this as a bug, as there is no real solution to the problem. The issue is still present with iOS 17. Now here comes the weird part: if you use the native Camera app to edit a faulty video (e.g. trim the start or end point), the video is repaired, i.e. the frame drops are gone! Even if you reset your edits back to the original, the video is fixed and no frames are missing anymore. This means that originally all frames were recorded, but the video stream was somewhat assembled incorrectly. I suspect that only a few users are affected by this phenomenon, because I have not found anything about it on the internet. This way I'm trying to find out if there are more users who can reproduce the problem. I'm honestly a bit disappointed because I bought this phone mainly for the video features. After all, there is a somewhat cumbersome workaround. Final note for the pros: if I transfer a video (with a missing frame) onto my Macbook, QuickTime will show 23.xx for the "Encoded FPS" (where xx is a rather random number). After "repairing" the video file with the iPhone's Camera app, QuickTime correctly shows 24 fps.

Missing frame(s) in iPhone video I just noticed that one of my IPhone 14 Pro videos, 4k, 30fps, SDR, iOS 18.3, shot on native camera app, was missing a frame about 90 seconds into the video. I have never seen this before! However, when I trimmed the video ever so slightly with native Photos app, the frame magically reappeared and there were no other issues. Seems like the missing frame was actually captured but was missing in the playback until I edited. This is very odd and I am wondering if anyone else has seen this… I have seen a post from 2023 describing the same issue but there was no resolution and only one comment

Fixing a Stop in a Recorded Video:

No. The frame stopped. You won't get it back. So, take another video.

A shot in the dark, but you might try if re-encoding the movie with, say, Handbrake or Shutter Encoder or just rewrapping it with ffmpeg might somehow fix some corruption in the movie.

It seems a very small issue and can be fixed using an inbuilt tool of the VLC player, but to use this method, you need to change the file format to AVI. However, there are many stellar solutions available online to repair corrupt or damaged videos. You can try any video repair tool to fix the issue without facing any hamper.
