Unverified Apple Pay usage

I received a text from a foreign phone number +6**********0. It said that "they"

noticed unusual activity on my Apple ID Case 6******8. I have no case open with this number.

The text continued with a transaction amount of $215.45 from "Electronic Hub USA" on Aug 5, 2025

at 10:47 AM (PST) The device used was iPhone 14 Pro. That is not my phone. It was used in San Diego, CA.

I'm not in that city nor have I been there recently. I'm 3000 miles away!! The phone number for help is

+1*********8. This is obviously some sort of fraud and I'm not calling the number. Please investigate on your end because I did recently open a case with Apple. That I.D # ends with 5142. I would like an email replay at p*******o@gmail.com. Please confirm that my ignoring this message is not only appropriate

but helpful to Apple in uncovering whatever sort of fraud this represents by using Apple as the "front" to the fraud. Paul Greco

Scam.

Common one.

Ignore it.

Pretty much everything in that message is a lie.

Lies structured to get you to panic and call the number, and get scammed.

Among other clues to the scam, fraud detection doesn’t work like that message claims either, as suspected fraud blocks the transaction until and unless you call and release it. There’s no countdown timer.

Some of the many examples: Recognize and avoid social engineering schemes including phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support
