Reminders is making constant crazy errors

I'm using a 2018 Intel Mac Mini with Sequoia 15.7.1.


I try to set up a monthly reminder, and no matter what day I say, it makes the reminder for the 5th day of the month.


Or, I ask it to remind me, and it shows me a web search, or says something about Apple Pay that I don't even have, or brings up a clock thing like it's setting an alarm, or makes reference to some other thing I don't have and says it can't do it or use it.


And of course, there's all the recurring reminders that stop after a few rounds, or never even work once.


I have exactly one device, the desktop as described above. And therefore, there is no synching going on.


I do not use iCloud. I checked the one associated with my account; interestingly, ONE reminder from a year and a half ago somehow got in there, but other than that, it's completely empty.


This isn't a complicated application, so something really weird must be going on for it to be making so many errors. Does anyone have any idea what's causing this, and more importantly, any idea how to fix it? Thank you!

Reminders App Having Issues in Sequoia:

A 2018 Mac mini only goes up to macOS 15 Sequoia (see Tahoe ). I'll keep mine so that I'll have an Intel-based Mac for older Virtual Machine usage. Regardless, perform the following to troubleshoot this...


A. Try Safe Mode:

While in Safe Mode, try using this app. In Safe Mode, login items do not run, and corrupt system files(i.e. caches) are intentionally reset as a way to fix issues.

  1. Boot: in to Safe Mode: [Hold Down: shift key upon boot].
  2. Log in: as same user
  3. Try: this once more
  4. Restart the Mac Normally
  5. Try: this once more


B. Single-Out this User:

Try a pre Administrator user, seeing if you do not get this occur while in it. If so, then it is an issue with the configuration of the current user. If not, then it is an issue with the entire Mac, in which case you should reinstall the macOS. See below...


C. Reinstall the macOS:

Nothing would be deleted. It's just that items that have become corrupted or deleted, would be replaced or reinstalled back to where they should be. Go Here: How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery - Apple Support.

Important: Be certain to create a backup of your Mac prior to performing the reinstall. That way, you can have something to restore from the Mac from, should anything go wrong with the reinstall. Once reinstalled, try this once more, seeing if you still get this error.

I understand how a forum works, I'm just astounded that, for the first time in my quarter century of using forums, NO ONE is experiencing the problem I'm experiencing. We're all using the same software, it doesn't seem possible for someone to have unique issues… I'm not sure what details there are about setting a Reminder? I click the Siri thing, and say "remind me to," followed by what I want to be reminded of… isn't that all there is to it?


I had no idea that there was a manual way to create a Reminder! In all the research I've done trying to fix this problem, this is the first time I've ever read that. Unbelievable. I made one manually, and it didn't give me any BS excuses, so that seems fine. It's a lot quicker and easier to do it verbally, though, so I'd still like to get it fixed if possible…?

This is a user-to-user forum. Getting an answer depends on someone who has the knowledge seeing your question and deciding to answer. Given that huge amount of posts every hour in this forum, sometimes, things don't get seen.


From what I can gather, since you don't give many details about how you're setting up these reminders, I'm guessing you're trying to use Siri? What happens if you enter the reminders manually? Do you still have the same problems?
