Amazon app constantly downloads itself

Amazon app constant download


Hey guys, just trying to see if anyone has had this issue. I got the 17 Pro last month and went through the standard download process of getting all my apps back. I’ve had the Amazon Shopping app on all my previous devices without any issues but for some reason it would attempt to redownload itself every few days and get stuck in a constant download loop. Eventually I just deleted the app and just started using the browser version.


But now the app will literally install itself on my phone and get stuck in the same download loop over and over. I’ve turned off automatic downloads, I’ve logged out of Amazon on all devices through my account settings online, I’ve reset my password. I feel like I’ve run out of options but the app will still reappear on my phone every few days. The only solution I have to stop to loop is to restart my phone and delete the app. But then it’ll still show up again eventually.


Anyone else have something like this happen with Amazon or any other apps? Thanks in advance

Mac Jim ID is correct. VPNs are simply a mess for iPhone's. Remove it. You don't need it. And until you do, you will have all sorts of issues, which will be solved once all traces of the VPN are removed.


  • Open Setting > General > VPN & Device Management - Remove the VPN Profile
  • Delete any associated app for the VPN
  • Then follow the directions Mac Jim ID provided to Force Restart your iPhone

I don't understand why this would be happening with the Amazon app only? The Amazon App works just fine on my 17 Pro Max. I think it might be a good idea to contact Apple Support directly. If you're in the US you can call Apple at: 800-MY-APPLE

I just don't get it with the app. Did you ever at some point change your Apple Account (formerly called Apple ID)? I'm not even that would cause this. Apps are forever tied to the Apple Account they were downloaded under. If you downloaded the Amazon app under a different ID, you'd more likely be asked to sign into that account in order to update the app. That doesn't seem to be what you're experiencing here.

Turning off a VPN makes no difference, you would need to remove it.


After that has been done, perform a Force Restart. It may take a couple of attempts to get the speed and sequence of the key presses correct and if you do not see the Apple logo in the last step by holding the side button, then you will have to try again.
