Keyboard issue in Notes App on iphone

when typing text or anything in the app Notes, the keyboard doesn’t disappear. Instead, it blocks your view so that you can’t even type because you can’t see anything since the keyboard stays visible. I’ve tried swiping down, tapped in the middle of the screen, hoping it would ‘hide’ but the keyboard just stays there, and it makes the app totally worthless to use.
