Journal entry getting deleted as I write it

twice in a row now, i’ve written about a paragraph (using apple pencil) in the journal app when it randomly disappears and turns into this blank box. it’s not the same as a text box. i tried to press undo, nothing changed. i tried to resize it, it is unresponsive to touch in the bottom right corner where it’s got that little notch. i tried tapping the edge of the screen and touching it with the side of my hand in case i somehow caused it like that while i was writing, but i can’t seem to recreate it intentionally. i’m frustrated, literally happened when i was writing the exact same sentence both times. disappointing cause i waited for journal to come out on ipad to use it so i could write in it with my pencil :’)

what am i doing wrong to cause this? or is it just a glitch?
