Change file selector of Preview.app ?

Preview is a great app.

BUT it uses by default the native “new” File Chooser

I see it as a tentative from Apple to force the user to use tags and the native search to look for files, instead of using a classical hierarchy of folders. This is fine if some people want to work this way.

I don't, and it is a misery 99% of the time I use it: I have to scroll down at the bottom of the selector, to choose the “other folders” to put it where I want… e.g. in a new directory.

If I want to rename the file, I had to put the arrow on the name, wait for an icon to appear (this has improved in Tahoe, but I am still not a fan).

So, the practical question: is there any hidden preference to have the classical File Chooser in Preview?
