LaCie Disconnecting when moving files

Couldn’t find this question asked before, so I’m addressing it myself.

Not that long ago I got myself a 2tb LaCie external hard drive.

I’ve moved there about 30gb of files.

Now that I need to sort them out, to make sure everything is its own separate folder I face this issue.

Basically, I can be either moving files from one folder to another for about 10 times before the hard drive disconnects, doesn’t show any files anymore and I have to eject the disk, plug it back and start over.

at first I thought the issue was that I was moving 200+ images from one folder to another at one time, but then I tried moving one file per time and it remains the same.

I’ve also faced the same issue when I would just go through the files or delete them.

Is this fixable and what could be the reason this is happening?
