White pop-up menu on white background in Apple notes

Working on an iPad Pro and iOS26.0.1, I have selected a white background for Apple Notes. When I then click on the Font and heading button, the menu pops up briefly with a grey bakcground but then changes to white, which makes the buttons and options impossible to see against the white background of the page.
