While using Apple CarPlay and Waze how can I prevent Waze from pausing the music when it gives directions

I am on iOS 26 - Iphone 17. While connected to Apple CarPlay, Waze pauses my music (radio or Spotify app) in order to provide directions. This does not have to happen - I have seen other people use their iPhone 17 with Apple CarPlay without the same issue. Could it be AppleCarPlay? I have compared my settings with another phone and everything seems to match.
