Preview: Unreadable search highlights in dark appearance PDF mode
Search highlight color in Preview is unreadable in dark appearance PDF mode.
It's a bright yellow highlight over white text.

You can either not use Preview's new dark mode when searching PDFs, use another PDF reader, or send direct feedback to the macOS Product team requesting that the highlight not use the current bloom effect over white text — but change the found text to yellow as does with the current highlight annotation.
Nothing your fellow users who are exclusive to these public communities can do about this design oversight.
