Cursor jumps back in Apple Notes tables

The curser in Apple Notes keeps jumping back when using tables. After entering the first two or three characters in a cell, the cursor jumps back to the beginning of the string of characters. I then have to go back and re-type everything.

I am using an iPhone 16 running iOS 26.1. I have been experiencing this for a long time, even before iOS 26 came out.
