Cannot add or rename folders in Apple Music

Toggle Sync Library OFF → restart → ON

Even if you don't subscribe to Apple Music, this setting affects the database structure.

1. Music → Settings → General
2. Turn Sync Library off
3. Quit Music
4. Restart Mac
5. Reopen Music → Turn Sync Library on

IMPORTANT: Your local files do not disappear.

This simply refreshes the Music library database.

“Cannot add or rename folders in Apple Music: I am trying to rearrange some music on Apple Music (itunes, I do not have a subscription) and I am unable to add a new folder or change the name of one. I tried restarting...This seems like a fairly new bug...“

Do your Part: Inform Apple of your feedback of this issue. Include how you’ve troubleshot this, and your results. Apple wont get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive from its users, the more likely they will know what needs to be fixed, and what their customers prefer in updates, and future macOS versions to come. Apple with know nothing of this occurrence, if you don't report it to them.

1. Go Here: Feedback - macOS - Apple
2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
3. Select: "Software/Firmware Update" for the "Feedback Area"
4. Comment: that this all started after installing an update. include the URL of this thread.
5. Proceed from there as necessary
