Apologies if this is in the wrong place but can you mark an album as ‘favourite’ without adding all of the tracks on the album to the ‘Favourites’ song playlist?

Update your Apple Music sync database
This stops album → song propagation.
Settings → Music → Sync Library OFF
Select: Remove from iPhone
Restart
Turn Sync Library ON
Now favorite the album again.
Songs should NOT be added to the playlist.
