Apple TV 4K tvOS 26.x update broke HDMI CEC control on Sony HDTV and Sony AVR

Apple TV 4K tvOS 26.x update broke HDMI CEC control on Sony HDTV and Sony AVR.

HDMI CEC device control functionality between Apple TV 4k, Sony STR-D1040 AVR and Sony HDTV quit working with the tvOS 26.x update. Apple TV remote no longer turns off the Sony TV or the Sony AVR. However, the Apple TV remote will turn on the Sony TV and AVR. Apple TV device reset and remote reset have no effect on the problem.

Also use a FireTV Cube 4K connected to the same Sony TV and Sony AVR. HDMI CEC functionality is still operating normally when using FireTV Cube 4k.

This issue differentiator clearly isolates the HDMI CEC problem to the Apple TV device and the tvOS 26.x update.

Any thoughts?

Toggle CEC off/on at the AVR level

On the Sony STR-DN1040:

HOME → Setup → HDMI Settings → Control for HDMI → Off
Wait 10 seconds
Turn it back On

This forces a CEC routing table rebuild.
