Spotlight Search opening Safari links in existing tab

When I tap a safari link on Spotlight Search, if I’ve already opened a tab previously through Spotlight Search recently, it opens the link on the same tab. How do I stop this behaviour? Is it something to do with the open in new tab setting on Safari or is it a separate setting?
