Command V shuts down Pages

On my iMac 2015 Pages shuts down when I enter command v to paste into the document. I dont know why this is happening but it is can someone please explain? It comes and goes. Meaning, a few weeks back the same thing happened. It stopped, happily. But, it is now back and it slows down my work when it does.

There is no explanation as cmd+V is a paste operation and has nothing to do with closing a document window, or quitting Pages. You should be using Pages v13.1 for any release of macOS Monterey 12.*.

Shut you Mac down, do not select Restart. Now, press and hold the shift-key while powering on your iMac. This will boot into Safe mode. Press and hold the shift key while launching Pages. Open the same document and try that paste operation. Try a different Pages document with the same keyboard shortcut. In either case, can you reproduce the problem with the paste operation?

Restart your Mac normally, and open the original document where this issue occurred. Perform a paste operation. Did Pages quit?
