How can I restore my iTunes music library for previously purchased downloads.

I purchased music from the iTunes Store. The music will automatically download to my iPad, iTunes music library. But later on, when I go to the library to play it, but it won’t download. I have tried numerous times to download it again but it will not appear in my music library “please help”!
