Smart Keyboard Folio

Can the Smart Keyboard Folio work with any other IPad models other than the Pro? Or is there a way to connect it to an older model?

iPad, iOS 12

Hi, Dg1234,

Are you speaking of the newer Smart Keyboard Folio models being sold by Apple, now? Here you can see — if you hit “Buy”, then “Compatibility” — it appears Apple’s selling those only for the newer two iPadPro models: https://www.apple.com/smart-keyboard/select/

I’m not sure if there’s leftover inventory, elsewhere, for their prior versions. And I’d only be guessing at what the compatibility models would be for those.

When I had smaller iPads, I used the Zagg. It was heavy and tipsy, but worked well. You might want to take a look at that or do a google search for your specific model to see which keyboards come up as compatible with it. Once you find something, there are numerous YouTube videos comparing most of the, then, popular models.

I’ve always had a keyboard folio with my iPad. It’s like having a mini laptop. I’ve never used the on-screen keyboard. I tuck it under my arm, walking about at home, and have it with me constantly. It’s the only way to go!

Hope this is helpful...

Linda

The Smart Folio Pro Keyboards work with the Pro models and the new iPad Air 3. What model iPad do you have? They connect via smart connectors not present on older generation iPads. They are not Bluetooth, so there would be no way to use them.

Here is a link from Apple detailing which Smart Keyboards work with which iPad models:
