Leaving a group chat is unavailable

Im having an issue reguarding the group chat messages in imessages. Im in a group chat with more than 3 people than I have 0 knowledge of constantly texting in the groupchat. It wont let me leave the conversation and when I hide notifications and delete the chat, once they text again that chat is immediately to the top of the message list. Highly disappointed!! Just because other users are not iphone users doesnt mean we have to put up with them. This is 2019 and we still didnt handle it already?!?? Cmon apple, step up your game 😕😕

Add or remove someone from a group conversation

Anyone in a group iMessage can add or remove someone from the conversation. You can remove a person from a group iMessage that has at least three other people. You can’t add or remove people from group MMS messages or group SMS messages.

Types of group messages

The three types of group messages that you might see are: group iMessage, group MMS, and group SMS. The Messages app automatically chooses the type of group message to send based on you and your recipients' settings, network connection, and carrier plan. For example:

  • If you and your recipients are using Apple devices and iMessage is turned on, then the group message is sent as an iMessage.
  • If you send a group message to people who aren't using iMessage, then the message is sent as an MMS or SMS message.

Fact is that Apple has no control over group SMS/MMS. Those are handled by the carrier, Apple has control over iMessage. Block the numbers in the group message. Your hiding notifications but then deleting the message is why it comes back, since the message no longer exists the notification cannot be hidden. From the link that SravanKrA provided,

You can’t add or remove people from group MMS messages or group SMS messages.
