New Apple Pencil

Does anyone know how to fix the Apple Pencil 2 after it stops charging? The recharging process has always been erratic. It would go from fully charged to a random percentage. Recently it dropped to 3% while on the magnetic docking port. Now when placed on the dock the iPad recognizes it bit it shows no charging percentage and will not "pair" in Bluetooth. I'm guessing the pencil battery is too low to pair.
