Apple TV 4K remote not working.

Can’t get into settings to change or check on anything. I’ve tried restarting (Menu +Home) re-pairing the remote (Menu+Vol Up) but the latter just made it worse. It seems the buttons work but not the trackpad. iPhone can’t find the Apple TV either so I can’t even use that. iPhone mirroring works for most things but Netflix requires me to use Apple TV app.

Apple TV 3rd generation. I can’t get into settings. The remote does not move me from the option offered by the tv (“computers”) and even though “settings is sitting there the remote won’t move me over to it. Apple TV 3rd generation. Figured it out. My AppleTV was connected to a different WiFi network than my iPhone. Once I connected my iPhone to the same network I was able to access Settings, update the AppleTV software, and reset the system in order for the remote to finally pair up properly.
