I mistakenly added a phone number to the wrong contact in my contacts. I have corrected it, deleting the number from the erroneous contact and adding it to the correct one. When I now send or receive texts from that number, however, I still see the wrong contact name!
I have tried turning off iMessage in settings, restarting my phone, etc. but can’t get iMessage to display the updated contact. How do I root out the false association?

I noticed that the texts were displaying correctly on my mac. Logged out of icloud on my iphone and logged back in. Contacts reset and now display correctly!

I was going to try that, but thought of logging out of icloud first. Worked!

Delete both contacts, restart your iphone, then properly add them back.
