Can I have a gmail address for my apple ID? When I try to add it to my profile or change my Apple ID to my gmail address I get the messsage:
"This email address is not available. Choose a different address."

If your ID is currently your @icloud.com address you can't change it to a non-Apple address. Also if your Gmail address has previously been associated with an Apple ID then it only becomes available after a delay which might be 30 days or might be a year (nobody seems to know).

Thanks Roger, I have set up a new gmail address with forwarding to my current gmail address and that has seemed to work.
