Can't test my wifi network diagnostics

For whatever reason "assist me" the choice I usually find at System preferences > Network and the option of checking my network connection by holding the option key down to open the network diagnostic is not available on my mac. It's updated with Mojave but when I press and hold the option key, nothing pops up. And that "assist me" button is not on my dialog box. Anyone know what's up?
