AirPods won't charge completely

Is there a reason for this? I have left my AirPods in my case and charging for a long period of time. The case charges completely but no matter what, the AirPods stay at 93%. I have 1st generation AirPods. I have cleaned the case where and the pods of any debris but it still happens. Thanks in advance.
