Lost photos after Apple ID password changed.

My son changed his Apple ID password and the phone was not currently backed up on iCloud or iTunes. All of his recent pictures just disappeared from his phone. Also, all the pictures disappeared from the DCIM folder which means the pictures are either hidden or deleted off the phone harddrive. Does anyone know of a method to find those pictures to download them off the phone on to a computer? it seems a bit suspicious that the pictures are gone, I think the pictures were moved into a hidden folder and I’d like to just retrieve the pictures.

If your son was using iCloud photos and logged into the phone with a different password, the photos would be removed from the device. The photos are in iCloud under the old Apple ID. He will have to log back in with the old Apple ID to retrieve the photos.
