Malwarebytes

When I attempt to run Malwarebytes, it gets stuck at the beginning "scanning for item: OSX.VSearch." How do I make it proceed?

The following may help; it is a couple of years old but it resolved the issue by cancelling the scan and checking for updates: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/194277-scan-gets-stuck-on-osxvsearch/

I suggest that you contact Malwarebytes support directly. This may be a situation where the app didn't install properly and just needs to be reinstalled or there may be an issue with your Mac's drive that is preventing Malwarebytes from being able to access the portion of the drive that this item may be residing in.

I've never run into that problem with Malwarebytes. Could it be you are running some other type of malware/Anti-Virus software that is conflicting. If so then uninstall it as per the developer's instructions. If not, then I'd quit out or force quit and try again. If that doesn't work then go to Malwarebytes Support and ask them. They are very responsive.
