Why can’t I just pay for an annual storage plan instead of monthly?

Is it possible to pay for iCloud storage annually instead of monthly? I’m tired of paying $0.99 a month out of my checking account.

Apple does not offer an annual plan any longer.

To achieve the same effect, purchase enough iTunes Gift Cards and redeem them to your account. The monthly fee will be paid each month without your involvement.
