I need a cord that connects my iPhone XR to my MacBook Air.

You could use the USB-A to USB-C cable that was suggested, but a USB-A to USB-C adapter would work too to connect the cable that comes with the iPhone. I just bought one yesterday for $1.50 at a store called Daiso. I have a few of those already, but they were all more expensive. One was $15 with a 2m Lightning to USB-A cable, and the other was a pair


There are a variety of adapters/hubs that might work to convert USB-C to USB-A.


The one I bought is the gold one here, although it comes in maybe three or four colors:
