Here it is in Depth:

A. Open Mail App

1. Open: "Mail" application
2. Go To: "Mail" menu
3. Select: "Accounts..."
4. Click: "+" Button on bottom-left
5. Click: "Add Other Account..."
6. Click: "@ Mail Account"

B. Then Type the Following that Pertains to Your Account:

• Name
• Email Address
• App Password***
• Click: Sign in

C. *** Note: How to Get the App Password:

1. Log into: Hotmail
2. Click: Name (top-right of window)
3. Click: "My account"
4. Click: "Security"
5. Log in: (if prompted)
6. Click: "More security options"
7. Scroll Down to: "App Passwords"
8. Click: "Turn off existing apps"
9. Copy: The Provided App Password
10. Paste: the Password in Step B.

Use "Internet Accounts", under "System Preferences"

Setting up Hotmail does not work using Mail. You must setup the Hotmail account using Internet Accounts, found under System Preferences for this. So, first go to login.live.com to create a new app password. Then, use it for your password in Internet Accounts.

In Depth:

First, Use Hotmail:

Create the App Password in Hotmail. Be sure to click the "Done" button after the password is created.

1. Go to: login.live.com
2. Click: "Security" tab
3. Click: "More security options"
4. Click: "Create a new app password" See Screenshot 1
5. Copy: the App password See Screenshot 2
6. Click: "Done" button

Then...

On your Mac, Use the App Password you created in Hotmail:

1. Go to: "System Preferences"
2. Select: "Internet Accounts"
3. Click: "+" button on bottom-left
4. Click: "Add Other Account..."
5. Click: "@ Mail Account"
6. Enter: your eMail address
7. Enter: your copied App Password from above
8. Click: "Sign In" button
9. Select Both: "Mail" and "Notes"
10. Click: "Done" button

Create and Use a “New App Password”:

You need to use an application password. You would login using that password. Then, you can access all Hotmail eMail through use of the Mac’s Mail app on Catalina.
