An A1822 model is a 2017, 5th generation iPad.

A 5th generation iPad CANNOT use ANY version of the Apple Pencil, AT ALL!

The 5th gen iPad’s screen is missing a needed screen hardware layer for ANY Apple Pencil to work/interact with a 5th gen iPad’s screen.

You will need to seek out third party stylus alternative for that year and model iPad.
