I did not receive an email but it was a notification on my credit card. I am not sure if I signed up for something or what the charge is for. Is there a way to see what the charge is actually for besides “Apple Services?”

If you received an email about an unfamiliar purchase, or subscription, it might be a phishing scam and nothing was actually charged to your account. Don't call, email or click on any links in that email. Just delete the email and you'll be fine.
To confirm if the purchase was really made, log into your Apple ID/iTunes account directly and check your billing or purchase history. If there really is an unauthorized purchase shown there, you can also file for a refund using the Report a Problem form.

To avoid phishing scams, etc.
Normally, Apple would have sent you a detailed invoice email when/before billing your card. You can check your detailed purchase history by logging into your account.
