After the last "upgrade", selecting (Mail) often results in a selection list (ie; delete app, edit home screen, new message, add VIP's, etc. Very annoying to not just open and show mailboxes. Can this be changed/eliminated?

You can tap an app to open it as you usually would, but pressing on the app for a longer period of time or pressing on the app with force will bring up what is known as a context menu. If you find that you are accidentally triggering a context menu instead of just tapping, you can adjust the time it takes to reveal content previews, actions, and contextual menus by going to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > 3D & Haptic Touch.
