Macbook Notes - All notes missing and cannot create new notes with screenshots.

A couple of days ago I opened my Notes app and all my locally stored notes were gone. If I create a new note with text only, the note is saved but if I add a screenshot to the note the screenshot is removed. Looks like I am having a problem with the app itself. Upgraded to 10.15.4 hoping it would fix the app but no joy. How can I fix the app and retrieve my missing notes.

Hello, AndreParsons3.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

From what I've read and understand is that once you add a screenshot to a note, the note isn't saving. I'd like to help. Are you using any email services for your Notes? Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Internet Accounts. This link may help: Add or remove accounts in Notes on Mac

I would also check to see if you have anything in recently deleted. Here's another good article for reference: About accounts and folders in Notes on Mac

I would also see if anything shows up in a test user account and safe mode:

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

How to use safe mode on your Mac

Keep me updated.

Cheers!
