Transfer my current SIM card from my old iPhone to my new iPhone

Since everything is stored on my old iPhone such as; contacts, pictures, messages, apps etc;

  1. Do I have to turn off my old iPhone before transferring my current SIM card to my new iPhone?
  2. Then do I turn on my old iPhone again and turn on my new iPhone to transfer everything over?

Hello,

A SIM card only links your phone number to cell towers, it doesn’t actually store any of the data on the device.
