Apple Watch app - push notifications but I don’t use it!

I do NOT have an Apple Watch — anymore. I had one years ago.

My iPhone randomly pushes a notification to the forefront of my screen insisting that I need to update my Apple Watch app — which I do not use. I dismiss it and it returns again days later. I have also tried updating the app, which does not work.

How do I get rid of this annoying notification?

iPhone 6s, iOS 13

This one talks about erasing Watch and removing iCloud Activation Lock. That seems to be the closest I can come up with. Those instructions are if you no longer have the Watch. What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Apple Watch, or buy one from someone else - Apple Support

I should have asked that question. And if the watch wasn't unpaired, the app can't be deleted until the watch is unpaired.

I've been looking for an Apple Support article on how to unpair a watch from a phone if you no longer have the watch, but can only find how to erase a watch if you no longer have the phone.

Problem solved.

You are correct, I still had the watch paired with my phone. So the Apple Watch app said I needed to update it. Which for some reason didn’t work. But then I couldn’t delete it because of the pairing.

I just went into my Bluetooth settings and clicked unpair. That took me to the Watch app, which reloaded and prompted me to pair a new watch. Then I could finally delete it.

Thank you all!
