I have an AOL account, that I am able to sign into at aol.com on a high sierra iMac. I am able to add this account to Mail on 2 macs running Catalina using the same password.
I CANNOT add this account to Mail on the high sierra mac with the same password !!!
Any clues as to how to fix this?

Use of an App Password?:
Is there an app password that you must use? If so, use that to log in, and associate your High Sierra Mac with your AOL eMail.

Make sure you only have one machine checking your AOL account at any one time.
