iCloud storage manage

Should I just do a back up on iCloud for my iPhone or should I separately back up photos as well, sorry am a little confused

iCloud back up I have deleted most of my pictures to provide storage space for back up but it appears to have had no effect. icloud I have some photos backed up on iCloud, however, I just bought a phone with more storage and do not neee the iCloud storage anymore as i would like to save it all on my phone instead. How do I do this?

They’re not to be confused as this is what iCloud backs up — What does iCloud back up? - Apple Support. If you use iCloud Photos or turn it on, then your photos/videos are stored in iCloud. Hopefully that explains it.
