How can I buy memory card for my iMac?

I just bought a new IMAC and found it is much slower than what I have Book Pro. It has only 8G memory. If I increase the memory, will it make my iMac run faster?

Exactly which size and model iMac do you have?

A new 27" iMac has user up-gradable RAM slots, a 21'5" does not have user up-gradable RAM slots.
