thunderbolt to usb-c

I am very new and trying to connect my iPhone 11 Pro max to my new MacBook Pro 13 inch 2020 so I suppose I need an adapter?

You can use a USB-C to lightning cable or cat a USB-A to USB-C adapter to use your USB-A to lightning cable with your Mac.
